never really seemed to portray himself in the same light as did the others, Jack, Allen, Gregory and many of the West Coast contingent who were more or less driven to write. Indeed, the story is still told of how he never remembered much of the writing of Naked Lunch. And again, much effort went into separating the author from the work, as in his cut-up experiments. I don’t doubt that he would have liked to seduce DBowie but I think there is some honesty in his reply.
