the bold portrail of a junkies life is enough to put anyone off, and reading it he has managed to capture that boredom, that uselessness, that feelin of bein able to stare at your foot while slouched against a wall for 8hours. boredom. sad. and he writes it true. ive not been a junky, and yet i believe i got a magnificent insight, not artificially coloured by imagery or pretty language, by reading it.
if youve been a junky, dont read it. he’d be tellin ya stuff you already know.
if you havent, then read it cos its brilliant.

oh, and if you did write it i doubt it would be as good, cos Bill didnt get the critical acclaim and upmost respect from many people for just jottin down a diary of his smack habit. he was an influencial and innovative writer who broke boundaries and captured a time and a place magnificently, which is all you can ask from a writer.

Naked lunck is near impossible to read in that the time and place he writes about is locked up within his drug-fuelled and fucked-up mind. to explore it, even if you dont get it all, is rewarding, i dont regret shuffling through it one bit.
