Being a writer means nothing

Thousands of books are written and published every year. Book stores and libraries are full of them. Everybody’s a writer. Anybody can do it. It means nothing, really. There are only lucky people who happen to find the right publisher who knows enough about marketing and distribution to make the author some money. But those authors are just like you and me, only some of them can’t write as well. Being a writer means nothing. Most of what’s out there is junk. There are themes and plots which are repeated over and over in novels and plays and poetry and I don’t want to read any of it. Or write any of it, either. Literature bores me. I’ve had enough. I’m done.
