First Edition On the Road?

I have a friend who has a first edition On the Road and doesn’t really care. I would love to own it simply for the fact that just by flipping through it I found tons of Kerouac’s grammatical errors and whatnot. Is it worth anything though? Because while I’d love to buy it from my friend, I’m not sure how I’d feel about ripping her off.
