just can’t force myself to use it. i’m going to london next week. i’ve spent months looking up bookstores, matching them to london a-z map grids, then rematching them to Victorian pubs – where i can sit down, drink a pint of lovely Guinness, and peruse my unshelved gems. gonna walk, gonna browse, gonna smell dusty ancient lit til i drop! there’s something about the ulitmate search for treasure that you can never find: like i’ve been looking for william miller’s bio of dorothy day called ‘a harsh and dreadful love’ for 35 years, ever since i was assigned it in college – yes, it’s THE BOOK THAT CHANGED MY LIFE! – i bet it’s on-line somewhere, but like the search for true love: i know she’s out there somewhere – it’s the journey, the eternal longing, the romance – that’s the joy of bookery…
